Lytchett Matravers Parish Council - Annual Parish Meeting 2019

Panel 21: Library Expansion

The Parish Council and the Friends of Lytchett Matravers Library have had to defend the library against closure twice in the past few years.

The library is a central hub for a host of activities, not just for borrowing books.

  • There are many book clubs, for children and adults.
  • There are computers available for on-line access to email or just to the web.
  • There are Knit and Natter groups
  • There are Jigsaw afternoons

The Friends of Lytchett Matravers Library have monthly talks and coffee mornings.

The library staff are always looking out for more to do to attract residents into the library. Go along and have a look.

The Parish Council hosts the Citizens Advice Bureau for residents advice and benefit.

The Parish Council has requested the transfer of the library building to the parish to ensure the building is retained for community use. It will still be a library, but it will provide a more flexible facility for the community. It can also be used for a wider variety of activities.

The Parish Council pays for extra hours for library opening. Should we pay for more hours?
