Youth Hall Opening

We are delighted to be able to say that we have completed our Youth Hall Energy Improvement Project following a very generous grant from Dorset Council, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Levelling Up.  This work has included installing a new innovative Wi-Fi-controlled heating system, LED and emergency lighting throughout, and new hand dryers for the WCs, plus any new wiring that was required. With the fresh paint, good lighting and added warmth, the Youth Hall is looking very homely, and we are now able to offer a range of activities:

  • Warm Space Chat Cafe
  • Youth Club
  • Table Tennis

General Hiring of Youth Hall space

Outside of these community sessions, the Youth Hall will be available to book for your own activities, including group meetings, or clubs who want to focus on card or board games, table tennis or pool, etc. If anyone would be interested in a ‘model train club’ one evening a month, please let us know.

Please contact the Parish Clerk at lytchettmatravers@dorset-aptc.gov.uk or LMYouthHall@gmail.com to get a copy of the Hall Hire rates, Hiring Agreement, and Terms & Conditions or download them below:

The goal of the Lytchett Matravers Youth Hall working group is to regenerate the old Youth Hall building and create a vibrant multi-purpose public community space that provides additional resources and capacity to the existing options within the village. A key difference for the Youth Hall will be the dedicated Youth focus, which is written into the existing covenant on the building and will be central to the development of the new facilities.

LMPC own the Youth Hall (LMYH) building and it sits on land leased from DC until December 19, 2056, but we are in discussion with DC regarding the transfer of that land to LMPC. This was initially approved by DCC on December 6, 2017 but the new DC administration requires the application to be resubmitted.

Would you like to join the LMYH management group?

This is different from the Parish Council working group. The management group will take on the day to day running of the building once it is operational. Volunteers need to have a passion to see the building be brought back to life for youth-focused and other activities.

Do you run a club or wish to start a new group?

The new LM Youth Hall facilities will offer a large open space, kitchen, meeting room and store room. It won’t be an empty space, but will have a pool table, air hockey table and sofas. If you would like to start up a film night, run a silent disco, set up a new baby & toddler session, run a series of art classes, play table tennis regularly, etc., we would love to hear from you.

You can read about the status of our progress in the reports below.
