Each year the Parish Council’s Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) needs to be reviewed by an external auditor appointed by Smaller Authorities’ Audit Appointments Ltd.

As it has yet to be reviewed by the appointed auditor, it is subject to change as a result of that review.

Any person interested has the right to inspect and make copies of the accounting records for the financial year to which the audit relates and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers, receipts and other documents relating to those records must be made available for inspection by any person interested. For the year ended 31 March 2021, these documents will be available on reasonable notice by application to the Parish Clerk via email: lytchettmatravers@dorset-aptc.gov.uk or phone 07824 829491 from Thursday 1st July 2021 (and ending on Wednesday 11th August 2021).

The full notice can be viewed and downloaded here in Microsoft Word version. It can also be viewed below as a PDF (and downloaded as a PDF here).

The notice sets out your rights:

  • To inspect the accounting records over a 30 working day period (you can request the various documents via the Parish Clerk (lytchettmatravers@dorset-aptc.gov.uk)
  • To ask the auditor questions about the accounting records, initially via the Parish Council. This right is time limited, so you should contact the Parish Clerk and/or the auditor as soon as possible. You can ask the external auditor questions about an item in the accounting records for the financial year being audited. However, your right to ask the external auditor questions is limited.
  • To object to the accounts on the basis that an item in them is in your view, is unlawful or there are matters of wider concern arising from the Parish Council’s finances
