Spring Litter Pick

Spring is on the way and so is our Litter Pick. Please join us on Sunday March 24th at 2:30pm to help clear the litter from around the village.

As usually, we will meet at 2:30pm in the upper Recreation ground car park, near the Village Hall. Here we will provide safety guidance and allocate routes.

If you have a favourite route that you like to do, please let us know in advance by emailing the Parish Clerk at lytchettmatravers@dorset-aptc.gov.uk.

In line with safety guidance, you MUST wear gloves, and please bring your own ‘litter pickers’ and High-Vis jackets if you have them. We do have high-vis jackets available for you to borrow and can supply bags for collecting the litter.   See you there 😊

D-Day 80th Anniversary Commemorations

We are planning a host of events on Thursday 6th June 2024 as part of the national commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

  • Showing of The Longest Day in the Village Hall in conjunction with Purbeck Film Festival. Doors will open at 5pm with the film starting at 5:30pm. It’s a long film, so we will have an intermission at 7pm and aim to finish at 8:45pm. Tickets will cost £5 to cover the fees for renting the film, etc., and any surplus will be donated to the British Legion.
  • Fish & Chip suppers: It’s a Thursday, so Jo Meade will be bringing the fish & chip van to the Rec car park as usual. If you fancy picking up a pre-film or intermission supper, you can place an order with them in advance. We will set out some additional seating on the new Terrace for you, however, no food will be allowed in the hall during the actual film screening.
  • Beacon Lighting: The lighting of the Beacon will be at 9.15pm, with the flame representing the ‘light of peace’ that emerged from the dreadful darkness of war and will be accompanied by the reading of the Nation’s tribute.
  • Pop-up bar: We are hoping to have a bar set up in the Sports Pavilion for those who want to come along to the Rec and enjoy the evening.
