New Remembrance Day wreaths policy for Lytchett Matravers

The Guerrilla Gardeners have been busy planting new climbing shrubs against the rear wall of the memorial area to provide a more rural backdrop. Over time these will spread up and across the wall to conceal the damage caused by subsidence and provide more greenery. As part of the re-planting and tidying up, the Parish Council has also cleared away the last of the wreaths that remained from the last Remembrance Day.

Policy Introduction: Clearing away Remembrance Day wreaths

When clearing the last of the wreaths away it became clear that there is no established protocol or recommended timeline for clearing the wreaths, even from the Royal British Legion.

Therefore the Parish Council is proposing a policy to clear any remaining wreaths by the end of each year. While the wreaths look resplendent in November, the weather does take its toll on them, and they can become quite a mess by the end of winter.  If you feel this is the wrong approach and have other thoughts and ideas please contact the Parish Clerk.
