There will be lots of activity on the Lytchett Matravers Recreation Ground throughout September and early October, with plans coming together for a range of new areas.
Dog Exercise Area
The long awaited Dog exercising area is due to be formalised with a fence and gate to allow dogs to have a bit of free running space. In addition, this will help us address the state of the playing fields which is often a source of contention around the village. We have around 300 children who regularly use the fields on Saturday and Sundays for football training and tournaments, in addition to lots of additional training sessions during the week. We need to keep them safe. There will be a campaign to advertise the new exercise area and also to highlight that the Rec is a play area, not a dog field.
The Skate Park
The skate park is being refurbished. The current boards have been there for over 10 years now, so we are resurfacing the area and updating it with to ensure that it remains a safe and fun environment.
The Exercise Trail/Outdoor Gym Equipment
The Exercise Trail/Outdoor Gym Equipment planned for the Recreation ground perimeter will also be installed. There will be a total of 8 pieces of exercise apparatus arranged in 4 groups around the Rec; one near Hannams Close, two alongside the path up from Rocket Park and one nearer the Eldons Drove car park. The idea is that residents will be able to plan their own circuit training routes and jog, or walk, between these gym/exercise sites.
If you have any other ideas about how we can improve the village, our wellbeing and fitness levels, please let us know.
