Temporary Closure of Jenny’s Lane & Dolmans Hill (July 2022)

AN UPDATE from Dorset Council “Due to the surfacing programme slipping by one day these closures have been extended until Monday 1^st August 2022.  The roads will be reopened over the weekend.”

This is an update to a previous notice, revising the previously proposed dates.

Dorset Council has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. The order came into operation between 07:00 until 17:00 on 20th July 2022 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 28th July 2022.

This Notice will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.

The effect of this Order is as follows:

1. To impose temporary road closure on Various Roads, Lytchett Matravers as listed:
   • Jenny’s Lane from the junction with High Street to the junction with Dolmans Hill;
   • Dolmans Hill from the junction with Jennys Lane to the junction with Bulbury Lane.
2. To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Various Roads, Lytchett Matravers as listed:
   • Jenny’s Lane from the junction with High Street to the junction with Dolmans Hill;
   • Dolmans Hill from the junction with Jennys Lane to the junction with Bulbury Lane.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections (see the map in the official notice embedded as a PDF below, or downloadable (as a PDF) here), and any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
